Shapely Muscles of "Shannon Mackey"

Hello, who are you, and what sports/fitness routine do you play?

Hello, my name is Shannon Mackey. I'm a fitness model, bikini competitor, and personal trainer. I'm very passionate about creating content that influences people to live a healthier lifestyle. Staying active is a must and I find that when more people see you enthusiastic and motivated. It inspires them to do the same. As I start to grow my brand and network with new people, we become more inspired to share Ideas. The first thing that crosses my mind is what people want to see that will inspire them to become more motivated.

How do you get ready to train for your sport/how do you train?

I like to start out my sessions with 40 minutes of cardio on the bike or elliptical. Then, I get down to my workout. HIIT workouts give me the necessary burst of energy that I need to get going right after cardio. I love vigorous exercises, but I keep in mind that slow and steady is the way to go when releasing negative tension in the body.

After a workout/game, how do you recover your body? What do you do to get your body in shape? What type of diet do you eat?

I absolutely love recovery days! I regularly spend my time in the sauna, and  I enjoy massages. Another great way to relax is Epsom salt baths. For my diet, I typically stick to rice, chicken, fish, and fresh veggies. I like to keep it simple and consistent.

How do you prevent injuries when you’re training? What type of stretches do you normally do? What’s your routine look like?

I'd say proper form is a must. When people get started, of course, they want immediate results so they think over-exerting themselves is the quickest way to do it. Well, I'm here to tell you that it's not. It's the days that you are going consistently. See if you go to the gym each day and let's say you cheat on your diet… It doesn't mean that you're going to gain a ton of weight overnight, you'll still have the same results tomorrow as long as you go to the gym! It's the day that you miss that can mess you up and it can also make you lose focus on the goals you're trying to achieve.

If there is someone wanting to get to your level, what type of advice would you give them?

Remain consistent in everything you do. If you're passionate about it, I believe you should contribute at least one thing a day that will push you closer to your goal. Each day I find one thing that benefits a better tomorrow. If I miss a workout. I still helped someone else or if I finished my workout early and wanted to go home I made sure I read a book on how to further myself in life. You are an immaculate work in progress and it just takes time but nevertheless, your result WILL show I guarantee it.

How do you structure your day now? What projects are you busy with?

My next big project includes a marketing team that will help further the health and fitness influencing movement. I'll be going to various states and meeting with people that have the same goals and creative mindset to create good quality content.

How has your journey on social media been? Future plans?

This journey has been very productive. I was able to grow my following more and I met some seriously amazing and talented people. In the future, my only plan is just to remain consistent and continue to do my very best!

Anything else you would like to share?

I sure do appreciate your time interviewing and I'm looking forward to working with you in the future as I continue to progress!

Knowing what you know now, what do you wish you could tell yourself 10 years ago?

I would simply encourage myself to keep going and that goes for everyone else as well.

Common question for beginners:

"How long does post workout recovery last?"

After a relatively light workout, your muscles may be able to recover in 24 hours, whereas a more challenging workout might take two to three days. Very intense workouts might take even longer.

Cold compression wrap is the perfect solution to relieve swelling & reduce inflammation. They're safe, effective, and easy to use. You can wear them on your ankle, knee, elbow, calf or thigh depending on which part of your body is injured.
